The best camping wedding venue in W.A you have never heard of!
I would like to share a little secret with you. Before it’s no longer a secret.
Deep in the last frontier of the Blackwood Valley Region near Balingup, in Western Australia there lays a 700 acre piece of paradise. The Valleys are steep, the forest is deep, the sky is large and the stars are brighter let me introduce to “Linga Longa”
Our event company specialises in outdoor boutique weddings and we have seen plenty of new upcoming venues popping up around the south west, but nothing like this. This place left me breathless at first glance. My heart literally skipped a beat.
So very fresh on the scene, the property’s dynamic owners have literally moved mountains in the last couple of years. Firstly they extended the existing dam into a lake that spans across the whole valley and is so large you can even jet ski on it. Then they landscaped the surrounding parklands, planted 100’s of deciduous trees and have a built a beautiful pavilion out over the water. It makes for a lovely launch pad into the deep green waters on a hot summers day.
They have also added two lovely guest cottages on the ridge that have breathtaking views both out the front and back. The camping hub boasts a huge commercial kitchen complete with two ovens, two coffee machines, a deep fryer, cool room, even an ice machine. There is also a very large, comfortable toilet block with piping hot showers. One of my favourite parts is the largest fire pit you have EVER seen; an up-cycled part of an old crusher that weighs about two tonnes and is large enough for your whole tribe to warm their toes and fingers by. This becomes a very popular meeting spot for the campers on chilly, misty mornings. Although if you are set up further afield the expansive camping areas also have their own fire pits throughout.
This property had no power when the owners brought it as a huge wildfire in 2013 burnt down all the power poles. But don't fear, they have a giant solar powered system that is so large it’s nick named Chenobyl. With underground power distributed throughout the property it really makes running lots of cords out from generators seem old fashioned.
This property is the ultimate “Glamping” experience. Tucked away so remote that even I, who has lived in this region my entire life, got lost trying to find it for the first time. However when you arrive and discover all of the creature comforts it gives you that feeling like you could just stay here forever.
We were honoured to help plan and set up the owner’s son Blake and his wife Talitha’s wedding last September which was the most magical affair and the first marriage celebration on the property. The reception was set up in a 30 meter marquee which is now available for hire along with enough chairs and tables to seat 120 or more people. They are not your average chairs and tables either, this furniture is logged, hand milled and built on the property. To make it even more convenient there are also 20 tents for guests that can be hired and set up prior to your arrival. Now that’s luxury camping.
Linga Longa was initially set up as a down hill mountain biking venue which is continuing to thrive. However I’m positive once the word gets out to the wedding industry this spectacular venue will be in high demand.
The ultimate place for a remote camping wedding with no neighbours for miles you can really turn up the music and dance the night away. If you have guest’s that demand more than sleeping in canvas then there is a selection of short stay accommodation to suit all budgets only 15 minutes away, a local bus hire service operates nearby. If you need yummy catering then Tasty Edibles from Greenbushes are super local and very experienced with working at this venue.
You seriously have to see this place to believe it. It’s not for the feeble minded and only those a little wild at heart with a sense of adventure will dare to experience it.
